About Psychotherapy

If you are struggling with emotional difficulties or navigating life’s challenges, working with a dedicated therapist can be profoundly transformative. Many of my clients arrive to address anxiety, depression, mood disorders, PTSD, or substance and process addictions. But therapy can do much more than just relieve specific symptoms – it can cultivate a whole new sense of perspective on life: a true sense of belonging to yourself and the world.

My therapeutic approach is primarily person-centred, psychodynamic, and existential. In brief, a person-centred approach means I am committed to supporting you in discovering answers that come from you and work for you. A psychodynamic perspective recognises that our emotions, desires, and personality are profoundly shaped by early relationships and childhood experiences. An existential perspective acknowledges that all people face certain universal challenges and limitations, yet each of us must make choices and create meaning in our lives. The aim of psychotherapy is to liberate your energy and create freedom and agency, enhancing your capacity to make active choices by developing greater self-understanding and acceptance. This is not a quick-fix process, though meaningful change can occur rapidly with engagement and commitment.

I hold a Masters degree in Psychotherapy and Counselling, as well as degrees in philosophy and fine arts. I am a certified and registered member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia, and the International Association for Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy. I have worked in several institutional settings, including as primary therapist at South Pacific Private, Australia’s leading treatment centre, as well as in private practice. Perhaps most importantly, I have been a long-term client to several therapists who helped me enormously in different ways, and come to this work as a fellow traveller with lived client experience. From this context, I have helped many clients, just like yourself, overcome self-defeating patterns, discover values and purpose, and move towards satisfying and meaningful relationships.
